Finance
The team that I am working for is responsible for the Procurement-to-Pay (PtP) processes for the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East & Africa). My job as a Business Process Specialist is therefore very diverse and comprises a variety of tasks. I am a Subject Matter Expert, mainly on the “to Pay” part of PtP.
In my role, I constantly work on different projects. Mostly cross functional and often across the globe. These are projects such as implementation of new entities, improvement of the automation of the PtP processes, but I am also involved in the transfer of tasks to robots.
In the year 2000, I started in the ‘Outbound’ department in our distribution center as a pick packer. After one and a half years in this role, I was able to make a career switch to the Finance Shared Service Center at the Accounts Payable department as an Accounts Payable agent. After this, I moved to my current position of Business Process Specialist in the PtP Enabling Services Team.
Working for Medtronic, means working in a constantly changing environment. Next to that, I am working with colleagues, who are often a decade younger than I am, on a daily basis. This keeps me sharp. I really feel that by working in the Finance department, I contribute to the Medtronic Mission. You are a smaller part of the bigger picture.
Over the past 18 years, I won two finance awards: for the successful implementation of the global IP project and for the successful introduction of the first-ever Medtronic virtual team member. These recognitions were definitely milestones in my Medtronic career. However, actually working on these projects, cross functionally and across the globe on the Global IP project, as well as being part of the project group which launched the first robot within Medtronic, have been fantastic experiences in itself.
