A Manager’s perspective
Accounting Manager
Copenhagen, Denmark

Why did you decide to bring in graduate to your team?

Our student workers bring a lot to our department and they really contribute to the team. They are young and of a new generation and they often have different perspectives of things, which I find refreshing. What I also really like is that our students we have had, all have been of different nationalities which brings something new into our department.

What do you look for in a student?

I look for students that have an Accounting background. They don’t have to be experts, but they need to have a basic understanding of the area of Accounting. The most important thing, though, is that they fit into the team. With the right drive, everything can be learned.

What do you offer your students?

Our students learn how to turn theory into practice.  They get the practical experience and they get a very good understanding of what it means to work in a country Finance Department.

Having had the real-life experience will help them get a job in the future and that’s also what I look for when recruiting; I do not focus on grades, I look for personality, drive and experience.
