My journey at Medtronic started 25 years ago as an intern in communications. I spent 15 years in the Cardiac Surgery businesses, where I moved from communications into marketing and sales positions. During my time there, Cardiac Surgery evolved quickly, and I had great opportunities to be involved in a number of acquisitions. Because this area of Medtronic was smaller, I was able to wear many different "hats," which enabled me to learn about the functions and regions supporting the overall business.
After my time in Cardiac Surgery, I spent five years in Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management (CRDM) in a number of marketing roles, and became the VP of Marketing. It was an invaluable experience to move from the smallest part of the company to the largest, and I learned was unmatched.
My next opportunity after CRDM was to be the VP of Diabetes, Europe. This experience was formative in that the professional learning was equally as great as the personal. My husband, two sons and our dog had the experience of a lifetime, and my understanding of what it means to live and conduct business in a global world reached an entirely new level. We were in Europe for three years before returning to the US, and to my current role in Neuromodulation, which is a fascinating business. Neuromodulation therapies are among the least penetrated of Medtronic's solutions, and there are tremendous opportunities to help serve more patients who could benefit from our therapies.
First and foremost, I enjoy working at Medtronic because of the incredibly talented and passionate people who are at the top of their field. The expertise and personal dedication to serve patients is unmatched at Medtronic. I also appreciate the breadth of our businesses and markets around the world. I'm constantly learning and provided with the opportunity of new adventures which I find energizing. At Medtronic, you are able to learn, develop and grow with people who care. We have special people here, and the majority of them stay because they know they are part of something bigger than themselves. They are a part of a higher purpose in alleviating pain, restoring health and extending lives… there is nothing more fulfilling.
We keep the Mission front and center at Medtronic. There have been times in my career where we didn't have all the facts and a decision needed to be made. At the end of the day, the Mission is what we come back to, and this continually motivates us to make the right choices for the clinicians and patients we are fortunate enough to serve. We are all pieces of a puzzle, and every one of us – no matter what our role – is critical to fulfilling our Mission.
I love spending time with our customers and patients. The greatest event we have at Medtronic is our Holiday program, where patients living better lives because of the therapies we provide share their stories with their physicians. Even after all these years, I get emotional every time I hear their stories. To be a part of helping patients living fuller lives is the most rewarding experience. Our Mission is so much bigger than any one person – it is the foundation of what keeps our company moving in the right direction, regardless of the challenges we face.
I love music. I play the piano and originally wanted to go to college to study music. I always wanted to play the piano in a department store! Maybe that is because I like to shop too!

We are aware of job postings being made by people who claim to be recruiters for Medtronic, even using Medtronic employee names, but who are in no way affiliated with Medtronic. We have also been made aware of people posing as Medtronic recruiters and making contact about job opportunities and extending job offers via text message, instant message or chat rooms. These job postings and offers are fraudulent.
Beware of recruiters that ask candidates to submit unusual personal information like bank statements or utility bills, pay a fee in order to be considered for a job, or pay "start-up expenses" after being hired. Medtronic does not require candidates to make any type of payment to them as part of the recruitment process or job offer. The Federal Trade Commission, the United States' consumer protection agency, has online resources for detecting job scams.
