Medtronic is evolving by innovating in new ways, collaborating with new global partners to market meaningful innovations, finding ways to align value among stakeholders, and providing access to care around the world.

We understand that healthcare systems globally are not sustainable. New approaches and new forms of innovation are required to face the current challenges and assure that millions of people around the world are not left untreated.

TRANSFORMING HEALTHCARE IN LATIN AMERICA

We, at Medtronic, work with the conviction that universal health should be a must. Latin America has made huge progress in that realm as more and more countries in the region have implemented health reforms and policies aiming to achieve access to health for entire populations. However, the aging population, increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, fee-per-procedure payment approaches, and delivery systems with misaligned incentives all contribute to the challenges in meeting universal healthcare needs.

In Latin America, Medtronic has taken important steps to engage payers, health systems, doctors, and other stakeholders in a conversation around value-based healthcare (VBHC). As a result, we have signed agreements and memoranda of understanding with several partners to advance VBHC pilots and projects in Brazil, Chile, and Colombia.  We believe these projects will deliver high-quality care for cardiac, diabetes, and obesity patients. We hope to sign many more in the rest of our region in the upcoming months.

COLLABORATING ON VALUE-BASED HEALTHCARE

As the world’s largest medical technology provider, Medtronic has a unique role to play in the move toward aligned, value-based healthcare. We also recognize that no single entity can do this alone. Only through collaboration and partnership can we transform healthcare. We call this approach Further, Together.

  • “Further” because we will continue to drive progress in innovation and formulate powerful solutions with proven clinical and economic value as the basis of our offerings
  • “Together” because we will forge new and stronger partnerships to help our customers achieve their goals, deliver clinical outcomes to the patients, and reduce costs

We are pioneering the transformation of healthcare in Latin America and are proud to showcase best practices, highlight great work done across geographies, and generate a fruitful discussion and exchange of ideas and opinions. Our work will propel healthcare forward to a more value-aligned system, where the patient is at the center.
