Airway Support During Ventilation

This continuing education program is accredited and can be taken for either CE accreditation or general learning. If taken for credit, this course provides one contact hour for nurses (California Board of Nursing), RTs (American Association of Respiratory Care), EMS professionals (CAPCE), and CRNAs (American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, B Credit).

• Differentiate between pharyngeal and tracheal artificial airways.
• Describe two methods of visualizing the ETT insertion during intubation.
• Identify one device and one procedure used to establish an emergency airway in extreme circumstances.
• List four essential components of artificial airway maintenance.
• Discuss considerations in planning for artificial airway liberation.
