The Midas Rex® MR7 High-Speed Pneumatic Drills feature a standardized platform so they can be used with your existing Legend® dissecting tools and attachments.
With our Legend tools and attachments line, we offer a variety of attachments, chucks, and tools for almost any surgical need. The comprehensive, versatile Legend system reduces equipment in the operating room.

Attachments
We offer a broad selection of standard and specialty Legend attachments that fit both electric and pneumatic Midas Rex motors. Benefits include:

Variable Exposure Attachments
These allow you to vary dissecting tool exposure for optimal visibility without changing surgical hand position. Our Variable Exposure Attachments allow adjustments in 1 mm increments without ever touching the tool. Straight and angled options are available in both small and large bore sizes.

Curved Burs
Innovative High-Speed Curved Burs for Midas Rex® Surgical Drills
We offer patented Curved Burs with AquaWrap™ technology for outstanding visibility and access in tight anatomic spaces. They feature the smallest shaft size of all our burs, with up to a 20-degree shaft bend. The AquaWrap technology also helps cool the shaft.
Like our other interchangeable Legend tools and attachments, these Curved Burs work with all of our Midas Rex MR7 pneumatic and Midas Rex Legend pneumatic or electric high-speed surgical drills.

Legend EHS Stylus High-Speed Drill
Medtronic offers a complete line of surgical drills for the unique challenges of otology, neurotology, and skull base procedures. Our electric drills include the Midas Rex® Legend EHS Stylus® High-Speed Drill, Visao® High-Speed Otologic Drill, and Skeeter Otologic Drill. These electric surgical drills are powered by our multispecialty Integrated Power Console (IPC® System). We also offer pneumatic surgical drills, such as the Midas Rex MR7 High-Speed Pneumatic Drills, that may be used for ENT as well as other surgical procedures.
Midas Rex Legend EHS Stylus High-Speed Drill
The Legend EHS Stylus Drill is small, lightweight, and ergonomic for excellent balance and maneuverability when you’re operating in tight spaces. With its compact size and high torque, this surgical drill is suited for a wide range of ENT, neurotology, and spinal surgeries.
The Legend EHS Stylus Drill offers adjustable speeds from 200 to 75,000 rpm and an intuitive interface. You can use it with our patented high-speed Curved Burs for outstanding visibility and access in narrow and deep anatomic regions.
The Legend EHS Stylus Drill also works with our color-coded, standardized Midas Rex Legend Tools and Attachments for added convenience and quick set-up.
Visao High-Speed Otologic Drill
Visao High-Speed Otologic Drill
The Visao® High-Speed Otologic Drill allows remarkable surgical visibility and access with patented curved burs that feature an outer, non-rotating tube design to help protect critical anatomy from mechanical injury. With a lightweight titanium exterior, our Visao drill provides a well-balanced, comfortable handpiece with integrated water-cooling and low operating temperatures for long procedures.
Designed for neurotology, the drill’s 80,000 rpm and high torque allow for rapid, yet precise removal of bone and tissue in tight, deep anatomic spaces. The Visao drill is well-suited for these otologic and neurotologic procedures:
- Cochleostomies, even under direct vision
- Draining a petrous apex cyst via an endaural, infracochlear approach
- Middle fossa acoustic neuromas, including opening the internal auditory canal
- Reducing the scutum during a tympanoplasty

Integrated Facial Nerve Monitoring
The Stim Bur Guard for the Visao drill is the first and only commercially available surgical tool that combines an electric drill with stimulation. Stim Bur technology works with our NIM® Nerve Monitoring Systems* to alert you of the bur’s proximity to the facial nerve during otologic surgery and help reduce the risk of patient injury.
