Advanced Visualization Software

Using Medtronic Navigation’s advanced StealthMerge and Stealth3D visualization software, surgeons can precisely and easily add dimension to any scan and auto-merge exams for the best visualization during image guided neurosurgery.

Merged exams for image guide neurosurgery

Detail - Merged Exams

StealthMerge Software merges a variety of exam modalities. For example, complex functional data series with the corresponding anatomical series in the OR, or on a planning station. Intuitive features make it easy for surgeons to:

  • Drag and drop images for easy manual merging or initialization of exams
  • Merge images in more places: select patient, planning, navigation
  • Verify and confirm merge results in all views simultaneously
3D surface rendering for image guided neurosurgery

Stealth3D Software provides surgeons with 3D image data in higher resolution and enables them to visualize anatomical areas of interest with no segmentation, including:

  • Cortical surface
  • Skull
  • Vasculature

Procedure Customization and Patient Management Software

Synergy® Cranial Software Planning and Navigation Software allows surgeons to store preferences for each type of image guided procedure they perform, and streamline patient management. These features help save time and costs, and ultimately provide a consistent experience for every case – even with staff rotations.

Stored Preference Options – Surgeons can personalize each image guided neurosurgery procedure by:

  • Designating optical or AxiEM electromagnetic tracking technology
  • Selecting and storing preferred instruments and room set-ups
  • Patient Management Features – Surgeons can streamline patient management by:
    • Transferring patient data from radiology via USB, CD, or DICOM Query/Retrieve
    • Archiving screenshots and StealthStation® images via USB
    • Grouping data by patient name and medical record

Surgical Planning for Image Guided Neurosurgery

Meet Your Surgical Goals

Pyramidal Tract created by Uli Burgel, M.D., Aachen, Germany

Pyramidal Tract created by Uli Burgel, M.D., Aachen, Germany

One of the main goals for a neuro oncology procedure is to maximize resection of a lesion while minimizing the impact to eloquent areas of the brain. Sophisticated new imaging capabilities are leading to a voluminous amount of data that needs to be reviewed in diagnosing a patient’s condition and executing the surgery.

StealthViz Advanced Visualization and Planning provides a means to fuse all the data together, extract the pertinent pieces of information from each, and prepare just those pieces for use with navigation in the operating theatre.

StealthDTI for Image Guided Neurosurgery

Building on the StealthViz visualization and planning engine, the StealthDTI software module enables additional information from white matter tractography. This is the processing of Diffusion-Weighted Imaging (DWI) MRI scans, also known as gradients, into fiber tracts.

Features for surgical planning, visualization and OR workflow include:

  • Realignment of the diffusion-weighted gradients to correct for patient motion
  • StealthMerge image fusion software for anatomical and functional datasets acquired in separate imaging sessions
  • Fast tensor calculations and optional output of other research-oriented calculations
  • Interactive fiber-tracking with start, mid and end regions-of-interest (ROI’s), including arbitrarily shaped ROI’s to filter the fibers displayed.
  • Tractography easily exported to a StealthStation® system for display, in context, at the time of surgery.

The StealthViz module enables better management and manipulation of the vast amount of information from numerous multi-modality datasets.

StealthViz (PDF, 4.4 MB) for exploration of scenarios:

  • Enables the fiber pathways to be identified and visualized during surgical planning and then in surgery
  • Surgeons can perform “what if” exploration to determine their optimal approach, plan the extent of the resection and execute the surgery with more refined information than ever before

SonoNav Ultrasound Navigation

The movement of the brain during surgery – a phenomenon known as brain shift – can be monitored and compensated for with SonoNav™, our ultrasound navigation interface.

The SonoNav system takes intra-operative imaging to the next level by integrating the latest ultrasound technologies with the latest StealthStation® navigation platforms. This provides real-time clinical data that is critical to surgeons' decisions – enabling for more precise tumor resection levels.

Seamless Integration: Connect, Calibrate and Confirm

  • Connect ultrasound device to the StealthStation system
  • Calibrate ultrasound probe for navigation
  • Confirm brain shift and resection levels
