EOPA® (Elongated One-Piece) Arterial Cannulae
Indications, Safety and Warnings
Indications:
This product is intended for use with cardiopulmonary bypass as an arterial return cannula
Warnings:
For EOPA models with Dilator Tip Introducer, a guidewire must be used for proper placement of introducer tip while inserting cannula to avoid trauma to the back wall of the aorta. Use imaging to ensure that guidewire is properly positioned in the descending arch of the aorta. In cannulation, extreme caution should be exercised to avoid trauma or tissue dissection of the aorta. Ensure that the aortotomy is sufficiently sized to avoid excessive force during cannula insertion. Avoid bending or kinking the cannula. Make certain the tip of the cannula is directed away from the aortic valve. Patient and procedure selection is totally a medical responsibility. The patient’s outcome is dependent on many variables including patient anatomy, pathology, and surgical and perfusion procedures and techniques. The cannula is for short term, temporary use only.
Adverse Effects:
None known.
