Activa Portfolio

Because each person is different, Medtronic offers the Activa Portfolio of DBS Therapy systems. Activa PC, Activa RC, and Activa SC neurostimulators have unique features to meet the different needs of individuals. However, all Activa neurostimulators share the same innovative features:

MRI Safety – Medtronic offers the only DBS neurostimulators approved for MRI head scans under specific conditions of use.
Adjustable Therapy – The DBS patient programmer allows you to choose and adjust the therapy with easy-to-use icons. Note: This feature must be enabled by your doctor.
Predictable Replacement – When your neurostimulator is approaching the end of its service, the system alerts you in plenty of time to plan for replacement. Depending on your programmed settings, your Activa patient programmer will give you a warning approximately 3 months before the end of service.
Tailored Therapy – An advanced programming platform allows your doctor to tailor DBS Therapy specifically for you. The Medtronic DBS Patient Programmer allows you to toggle between physician-set groups or go back to the original settings for the greatest relief from your symptoms. This may reduce the number of office visits to fine-tune your settings and allow you to reach your optimal settings sooner.
Less Interference from Electromagnetic Sources – Airport security, anti-theft detectors, and other systems found in home, work, and medical environments can produce electromagnetic interference. The Medtronic DBS systems in the Activa Portfolio were designed to reduce interference with electromagnetic sources so your neurostimulator will not switch on and off or stop unexpectedly in most electromagnetic situations.
Information On the Go – Important data about your device and the settings that have worked for you in the past are stored in your Activa neurostimulator. This is convenient when you’re traveling or if you switch clinics. Doctors and nurses can access your DBS Therapy information, and you don’t have to pack any paperwork.
