Bio-Medicus NextGen cannulae

Bio-Medicus™ NextGen arterial and venous cannulae, intended for peripheral placement, are available in sizes appropriate for adult and pediatric patients.

Overview

Indications

Adult cannula and introducer

These devices are to be used by a trained physician only. Cannulae are used to cannulate vessels, perfuse vessels or organs, and/or connect with accessory extracorporeal equipment. The cannula introducer is intended to facilitate proper insertion and placement of the appropriately-sized cannula within the vessel for cardiopulmonary bypass. The Bio-Medicus™ cannula (18 cm [7.09 in] tip-length models) may be used in either the femoral position as an arterial delivery cannula or in the jugular position as a venous return cannula. This product is intended for use up to 6 hours.

Pediatric cannula and introducer

These devices are to be used by a trained physician only. Cannulae are used to cannulate vessels, perfuse vessels or organs, and/or connect with accessory extracorporeal equipment. The cannula introducer is intended to facilitate proper insertion and placement of the appropriately-sized cannula within the vessel for cardiopulmonary bypass. These products are intended for use up to 6 hours.

Product details

Femoral arterial/jugular venous cannulae

Jugular venous

  1. Intended for internal jugular venous usage.
  2. Traditional femoral arterial insertion achieves high flow rates with minimal pressure differential.1
  3. Cannula.
  4. Internal jugular venous position promotes efficient venous drainage2 with minimal pressure differential.1

Multi-stage femoral venous cannulae

  1. Designed for easy placement across the atrium during minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS) procedures.2
  2. Advanced multi-stage design optimizes drainage of the entire circulation by accessing the inferior vena cava (IVC), atrium, and superior vena cava (SVC).3
  3. Traditional IVC/atrial junction position promotes efficient venous drainage.2

Key features

Femoral arterial/internal jugular venous cannulae

Bio-Medicus™ NextGen cannulae offer ease of insertion and are engineered for smooth transitions.3 Fingerlet supports are formed into the tapered tip to create a smooth transition between the introducer and the thin cannula wall. All of these advanced Bio-Medicus™ cannulae design features add up to your opportunity for a smooth insertion.3

Hemostasis management — the right fit.

Our cap and introducer design for all NextGen cannulae offers improved function. The increased friction fit between cap and introducer helps prevent backing out when inserting or advancing in the vessel.3 The introducer hub’s smaller guidewire opening also equates to a reduction in blood loss.4

  1. Repositionable suture ring is radiopaque2
  2. Friction fit hemostasis cap
  3. Vented standard 3/8 inch connector
  4. Shorter clamp site eases tubing management

Multi-stage femoral venous cannulae

  • Depth markings allow for visualizing the introducer’s length beyond the tip of the cannula body
  • Tip taper location indicator
  • 3/8 inch non-vented connector

  • Echo-friendly cannula body design2
  • Elongated taper allows introducer to dilate the vessel over a longer distance during insertion
  • Overall tip length up to 60 cm

Bio-Medicus™ multi-stage femoral venous cannulae with numbered callouts
  1. Efficient tracking3: long-tapered introducer facilitates placement
  2. Smooth transitions3: tapered tip design
  3. Promotes drainage2: six large-tip side holes
  4. Easy insertion and removal3: smooth side holes
  5. Marker band: indicates that all side holes are inserted at minimum depth within vessel
  6. Flexible and kink-resistant4: stainless-steel wire winding and reinforced side-hole baskets

Femoral bi-caval venous cannulae

  • Elongated taper on bi-caval venous cannula models offers dilation over a longer distance.
