Cardiac Surgery
Bio-Medicus™ NextGen cannulae are available in femoral venous, femoral arterial, and jugular venous configurations. All NextGen cannulae are engineered for smooth transitions and ease of insertion. They feature more than thirty enhancements to the original Bio-Medicus cannulae.
These devices are to be used by a trained physician only. Cannulae are used to cannulate vessels, perfuse vessels or organs, and/or connect with accessory extracorporeal equipment. The cannula introducer is intended to facilitate proper insertion and placement of the appropriately-sized cannula within the vessel for cardiopulmonary bypass. The Bio-Medicus™ cannula (18-cm [7.09-in] tip length models) may be used in either the femoral position as an arterial delivery cannula or in the jugular position as a venous return cannula. This product is intended for use up to 6 hours.
Position for Femoral Venous Cannulae
Bio-Medicus NextGen venous cannulae are used in the traditional IVC/atrial junction position.
Bicaval Capability
Bio-Medicus NextGen venous cannulae enable right atrium occlusion.
Position for Femoral Arterial/Jugular Venous Cannulae
Bio-Medicus NextGen arterial/ jugular cannulae can be used in two positions.
Features of Bio-Medicus NexGen Cannulae
Reinforced Tip
Offers ease of insertion and is engineered for smooth transitions.
Repositionable Radiopaque Suture Ring
Reposition the radiopaque suture ring on the femoral arterial /jugular venous models.
Flexible and Kink Resistant
Stainless steel wirewinding provides flexibility and resists kinks.
Guidewire-Capable Introducer
A guidewire-capable introducer is standard with Bio-Medicus NextGen cannulae.
We have increased the friction fit between the cap and introducer to help prevent backing out when inserting or advancing in the vessel. The introducer hub’s smaller guidewire opening also offers a 75% reduction in blood loss.1
Friction-Fit Cap
The friction-fit cap design offers improved function.
Connector and Clamp Site
Bio-Medicus NextGen arterial/jugular cannulae feature a vented standard 3/8” connector and shorter clamp site.
Bio-Medicus NextGen pediatric arterial and venous cannulae offer all of the improved insertability and hemostasis management features of our adult models. These products are manufactured without DEHP.
Introducer for Pediatric Arterial Cannulae
The non-phthalate PVC introducer is designed for percutaneous insertion over a 0.025-mm guidewire.
Side Ports of Pediatric Venous Cannulae
Reinforced side ports support smooth insertion.
