The Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Engagement (GIDE) team supports our efforts to build a more inclusive culture and diverse workforce. GIDE plays a key role in helping us achieve our 2020 diversity targets to increase the representation of women in global management positions and ethnically diverse talent in U.S. management positions. From a pay perspective, we believe that women and men should be paid equally for the work they do. Annually, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of pay between our male and female employees to address inequity.

Medtronic has global Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to promote a grassroots approach to uniting around common interests and advancing a culture of inclusivity. To further accelerate the careers of women and United States ethnically diverse talent, we have four Diversity Networks dedicated to helping employees succeed both professionally and personally, with objectives that are tied to our business strategy.

INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY — Fiscal Year 2019 (FY19) Highlights

We continue to make strides in building an inclusive, diverse, and equitable workplace:

  • We have achieved 100% gender pay equity in several countries, including the United States, and 99% global gender pay equity. In the United States, we have achieved 99% ethnicity pay equity.
  • Women hold 38% of global management positions — bringing us closer to our 2020 target of at least 40% or more and our ultimate aspiration of 50% or more globally.
  • In the United States, ethnically diverse talent represents 22% of our management positions, surpassing our 2020 target of at least 20%.
  • We have 19,000+ employees across more than 60 countries involved in employee-led affinity groups.
  • Medtronic joined Catalyst CEO Champions for Change in committing to accelerate inclusion, diversity, and gender equality, as well as the Human Rights Campaign Business Coalition for the Equality Act to support LGBTQ equality.
