Velosorb™ Fast Braided Absorbable Sutures

Product Details

Velosorb™ Fast sutures are composed of absorbable synthetic polyester comprised of glycolide and lactide (derived from glycolic and lactic acids).

This braided absorbable suture offers:

  • Pliable handling and easy knot tying during closing
  • Strong wound approximation during the critical wound healing period
  • Fast absorption
  • Minimal tissue drag

Velosorb™ Fast sutures are indicated for use in soft tissue approximation of the skin and mucosa, when only 7-10 days of wound support is required. Application for episiotomy repair, where fast absorption is preferred, may be beneficial for patient comfort and dyspareunia. However, it is not indicated for use in ligation, opthalmic, cardiovascular or neurological procedures.

Caprosyn™ Monofilament Absorbable Sutures

Product Details

Caprosyn™ synthetic absorbable suture’s quick absorption (56 days), durable polymer material and monofilament construction provide smooth passage through tissue, better approximation or ligation, and minimised potentiation of infection. Patients can experience less discomfort during healing, less wound complications and a faster recovery.

The advanced extrusion process of the molecule of Polygytone™ 6211 gives the suture:

  • Strong and secure wound approximation during the critical wound healing period
  • Predictable absorption profile
  • Excellent handling
  • Excellent knot security

Caprosyn™ sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, but not for use in cardiovascular or neurological surgery, microsurgery, or ophthalmic surgery.

Polysorb™ Braided Absorbable Sutures

Product Details

Polysorb™ sutures are composed of Lactomer™ glycolide/lactide copolymer, which is a synthetic polyester composed of glycolide and lactide (derived from glycolic and lactic acids). They are prepared by coating the suture with a mixture of a caprolactone/glycolide copolymer and calcium stearoyl lactylate. The sutures are colored violet to increase visibility and are also available undyed.

The advanced extrusion process of the molecule of Lactomer™ 9-1, the exclusive braiding process and coating system, give the suture:

  • Improved strength over the critical wound healing period([FOOTNOTE=Based on internal report #RE00081904, Polysorb™ Size 2 to 6-0 Polysorb™ Benchmarking Report. March 2017.],[ANCHOR=],[LINK=]),†
  • Strong knot security([FOOTNOTE=Debus ES, Geiger D, Sailer M, Ederer J, Thiede A. Physical, biological and handling characteristics of surgical suture material: a comparison of four different multifilament absorbable sutures. Eur Surg Res. 1997;29(1):52-61.],[ANCHOR=],[LINK=]),3,‡
  • Enhanced handling2,([FOOTNOTE=Faulkner BC, Gear AJ, Hellewell TB, et al. Biomechanical performance of a braided absorbable suture. J Long Term Eff Med Implants. 1996;6(3-4):169-179.],[ANCHOR=],[LINK=]),‡
  • Predictable absorption profile([FOOTNOTE=Based on internal report #RE00180459. Analysis of In Vivo strength loss and mass loss of Polysorb™ sutures. August 1996.],[ANCHOR=],[LINK=])

Polysorb™ sutures are indicated for use during surgical interventions, including ophthalmic surgery for the purposes of soft tissue approximation and/or ligation.

Biosyn™ Monofilament Absorbable Sutures

Product Details

Biosyn™ synthetic absorbable sutures are prepared from Gylcomer™ 631, a synthetic polyester composed of glycolide (60%), dioxanone (14%), and trimethylene carbonate (26%). These sutures are colored violet to increase visibility and are also available undyed.

The advanced extrusion process of the molecule of Gylcomer™ 631 gives the suture:

  • Excellent initial strength
  • Excellent in-vivo strength over the critical wound healing period
  • Excellent knot security
  • Minimal memory for handling ease

Biosyn™ sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, but not for use in cardiovascular or neurological surgery.

Maxon™ Monofilament Absorbable Sutures

Product Details

Maxon™ synthetic absorbable sutures are prepared from polyglyconate, a copolymer of glycolic acid and trimethylene carbonate.

The advanced extrusion process of the molecule of polyglyconate gives the suture:

  • Improved in-vivo strength retention
  • Strong knot tying security
  • Minimal memory

Maxon™ synthetic absorbable sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in pediatric cardiovascular tissue, where growth is expected to occur, and in peripheral vascular surgery. They are not indicated for use in adult cardiovascular tissue, ophthalmic surgery, microsurgery and neural tissues.

Maxon™ CV Monofilament Absorbable Sutures

Product Details

Maxon™ CV synthetic absorbable sutures are prepared from polyglyconate, a copolymer of glycolic acid and trimethylene carbonate.

The advanced extrusion process of the molecule of polyglyconate gives the suture:

  • Improved in-vivo strength retention
  • Strong knot tying security
  • Minimal memory

Maxon™ CV synthetic absorbable sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in pediatric cardiovascular tissue, where growth is expected to occur, and in peripheral vascular surgery. They are not indicated for use in adult cardiovascular tissue, ophthalmic surgery, microsurgery and neural tissues.

Chromic Gut Absorbable Sutures

Product Details

Chromic gut absorbable sterile surgical sutures are composed of purified connective tissue (mostly collagen) derived from the serosal layer of beef (bovine) intestines. They are packaged in a solution of 89% isopropanol, 10% water and 1% triethanolmaine. Chromic gut sutures are treated with chromic salt solution.

The manufacture of catgut raw material, consisting of long ribbons of highly selected serosal tissue, ensures:

  • Purity of collagen for optimal tensile strength and in-vivo performance
  • Uniform treatment with a buffered chromium salt solution, resulting in a chromic strand with a more predictable strength and uniform in-vivo absorption
  • Surface smoothness to facilitate knot run-down and knot strength, due to electronic polishing of each strand.

Chromic gut sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic surgery, but not in cardiovascular or neurological surgery.

Plain Gut Absorbable Sutures

The manufacture of catgut raw material, consisting of long ribbons of highly selected serosal tissue, ensures:

  • Purity of collagen for optimal tensile strength and in-vivo performance
  • Surface smoothness to facilitate knot run-down and knot strength, due to electronic polishing of each strand

Plain gut sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic surgery, but not in cardiovascular or neurological surgery.
