A practical guide to warning signs, emergency action, hospital care, treatment options and recovery.
Rapid assessment
Emergency teams use clinical examination and brain imaging to identify the type of stroke and determine which care options may be appropriate.
Medicines for eligible patients
For some people, medicines may be used to dissolve a clot. Eligibility and timing are determined by the treating clinical team.
Minimally invasive clot removal
For selected patients with a blocked brain artery, specialists may guide thin tubes through an artery and use catheter-based technology to remove or aspirate the clot, with the goal of restoring blood flow.
Medtronic works with clinicians and health systems to advance neurovascular care. The focus includes technologies that support minimally invasive access to blocked brain vessels, tools designed to capture or remove clots, aspiration approaches that help restore blood flow, and imaging- and data-enabled workflows that may help care teams identify and treat eligible patients efficiently. These technologies are used by appropriately trained healthcare professionals in hospital settings.
