Structural balloon trocar

The structural balloon trocar is primarily used for patients undergoing laparoscopic surgical procedures.

Description

The structural balloon trocar is primarily used for patients undergoing laparoscopic surgical procedures requiring a sealed port of access and/or tissue retraction. This is also used in patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery requiring a sealed port of access and/or tissue separation in extraperitoneal procedures, such as in hernia repair, lymphadenectomy or bladder neck suspension procedures.

The structural balloon trocar consists of a blunt obturator connected to a handle and a valve body assembly. The valve body assembly contains an internal flapper valve and seal to prevent gas leakage when instruments are inserted or withdrawn. The structural balloon trocar includes built-in converters to allow insertion of instruments of different diameters than the main seal. In addition, the device has an external one-way valve for gas insufflation.
