IN.PACT Admiral Drug-Coated Balloon

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)

 

Medtronic’s IN.PACT® Admiral® Drug-Coated balloon (DCB) is designed to treat patients with PAD that suffer from blockages in the upper leg including the superficial femoral (SFA) and popliteal arteries. The balloon is coated with a combination of two substances:

  • Paclitaxel: is a medication (drug) that helps limit the growth of cells, and in the case of drug-coated balloons, specifically the growth of scar tissue.
  • Urea: a natural substance that aids in the transfer of paclitaxel from the balloon to the artery wall.

The IN.PACT Admiral Drug-Coated Balloon is intended to prevent the re-narrowing of the artery due to plaque build-up, restenosis.
