Medtronic™ rotatable connector 5944RL

Medtronic™ rotatable connector 5944RL provides continuous signal monitoring for SelectSecure™ MRI SureScan™ Model 3830 procedures.

Features

Compatible with the SelectSecure™ MRI SureScan™ Model 3830 lead, the first FDA-approved MR Conditional lead for left bundle branch area pacing, when paired with Medtronic MRI SureScan™ systems

The rotatable connector is intended to guide implant success and drive procedure efficiencies with a single point of connection:

 • Designed to help achieve target implant location through continuous visualization of ECGs, impedance and 12-lead morphology
 • Eliminates the need to switch between signal monitoring and lead deployment
 • Intended to minimize additional torque resistance during lead rotation

The rotatable connector is intended to be used with the following Medtronic products:

 • Cardiovascular stimulating instruments
 • IS-1 lead
 • IS-4/DF-4 leads

This device consists of a pair of connection cables, which includes:

 1. Cathode cable (black wire)
 2. Anode cable (red wire)
 3. A pair of shrouded pin adaptors

Frequently asked questions

The 5944RL rotatable connector provides a single connection and enables continuous signal monitoring (including EGMs, impedance, COI), continuous lead deployment, and an overall streamlined procedure.

The 5944RL rotatable connector is only adaptive to Medtronic pacing leads. The rotatable connector is designed to be compatible with the IS-1, IS-4, and DF-4 leads. It can be connected to the Medtronic pacing leads with the connectors mentioned above.

The 5944RL rotatable connector does not affect the signal transmission quality. Compared with the impedance of pacing lead and patient, both the static and rotational electrical resistance of the 5944RL rotatable connector is very low. Signal transmission through the 5944RL rotatable connector is stable and continuous.

Yes. The 5944RL rotatable connector could be used in temporary pacing. Please note that a patient cable may be needed in some use conditions as the 5944RL rotatable connector has shrouded pins at instrument end.

The 5944RL rotatable connector is not able to be re-used or re-sterilized. The 5944RL rotatable connector has a design that is comprised of components that are neither designed nor tested for re-use. Additionally, products may fail to withstand the harsh conditions encountered during re-sterilization.

The 5944RL rotatable connector has two 2 mm shrouded pins at the instrument end for connection. They should be directly inserted into the 2 mm receptacles. When connecting, ensure the color of the pin and receptacle are the same.

The yellow adapter is used to convert the shrouded pin to an exposed pin. If the receptacles are not applicable for shrouded pins, please use the yellow adapter for the connection. Note that the adapters should be fixed firmly to the device receptacles to prevent potential electrical shock risk due to accidental detachment.

For the shroud pins at the instrument end, they should be inserted fully and firmly into the receptacles of devices. For the rotatable connector, the pin connector of the pacing lead shall be inserted fully into the central receptacle. The alligator clip should be opened up and firmly attached to the ring of the pacing lead.

The cable length is 12 feet. Please ensure that the cable length is adequate for the distance between the pacing lead and the devices.

Please rotate the pacing leads, which will drive the cap to rotate together; the body is not designed to rotate.

Step 1. Check and adjust the connection of the leads/monitoring instrument ends with the device.

Step 2. If the signal is still not stable after step 1, please replace with a new product.

No. The rotatable connector weight and connection force have been fully considered and tested to ensure the connection during normal rotation.

If the rotatable connector or alligator clip is not contaminated by any nonsterile substances after the accident, reconnect and check the signal.

If the rotatable connector or alligator clip is contaminated by any nonsterile substances after the accident, please replace with a new product.

No. The effect of liquid such as patient blood and saline on the signal quality has been evaluated. The results prove that the signal quality was not affected. For a full list of precautions for use, refer to the product instructions, safety, and warnings (ISW).

The design verification proves the rotatable connector can work normally within five times of insertion and extraction.
