Matt Walter
Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Global Communications & Corporate Marketing
Matt Walter is Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Global Communications & Corporate Marketing (GCCM) at Medtronic. He serves as the company's Chief Human Resources Officer and provides executive oversight for GCCM, the Medtronic Foundation, and Medtronic LABS. As Chairman of the Medtronic Foundation Board, he guides the company's philanthropic strategy and efforts to expand access to healthcare and economic opportunity. By championing Medtronic's people, elevating its brand, and expanding its community impact, Matt advances the company's Mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life.
As a member of the company's Executive Committee, Matt drives the talent, culture, and organizational strategies that support 95,000+ employees globally. He leads the Global HR function's business partners, centers of expertise, and shared services-encompassing talent management and acquisition; leadership development; inclusion, diversity & equity; global rewards; organizational effectiveness and people analytics; HR digital enablement; and employee relations. He also oversees GCCM and community impact efforts that strengthen stakeholder trust and advance Medtronic's Mission globally.

Matt was appointed Chief Human Resources Officer in July 2023, following nine years with Medtronic in a variety of HR leadership roles. He most recently served as HR VP, Global Operations & Supply Chain, responsible for HR strategies supporting roughly half of the company's global workforce. Earlier in his tenure, he held business partner roles in the company's Restorative Therapies Group, Coronary, Structural Heart, and Diabetes businesses, and spent time in its Global Talent & Leadership Development Center of Expertise.
Before joining Medtronic, Matt led Talent Management at Best Buy. Prior to that, he held several leadership roles at Bank of America.
Matt earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Saint Francis University in Loretto, Penn. He also earned a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Colorado State University.
