Insertion of a Medtronic heart monitor typically takes less than five minutes. It does not require general anesthesia. The monitor is placed just under the skin during an outpatient procedure. Your child can then get back to their day.
After the implant, you will return home with either a smartphone app or a bedside transmitter. All you have to do is keep the smartphone app open or keep the bedside transmitter plugged in. Your child’s doctor will be automatically notified of abnormal heartbeats.
