The InterStimTM basic evaluation is a simple test that helps clinicians identify candidates for long-term sacral neuromodulation. If the basic evaluation is inconclusive, a patient can be moved on to an InterStim advanced evaluation.DOWNLOAD THE EVALUATION BROCHURE
The InterStim basic evaluation starts with a quick in-office procedure and continues for 3 to 7 days, depending on the patient. During the trial, patients track their symptoms to see if the InterStim system has the potential to provide ≥50% symptom improvement.
The basic evaluation starts with a minimally invasive procedure that can be done in-office. The procedure usually takes 15 to 20 minutes. During this procedure a thin wire is inserted in the patient’s upper buttock and attached to an external neurostimulator.
Over the following 3–7 days, the patient tracks their symptoms.
After the evaluation, the results are reviewed and the clinician can determine the best treatment option. If the test is inconclusive, testing can continue using the InterStim advanced evaluation.
