Sherry Thornton, Vice President of Strategic Customer Engagement, leads our team of healthcare and business professionals who build and deliver solutions that provide clinical and economic value to our partner hospitals. The team interfaces with healthcare entities to foster mutually beneficial working relationships, understand the issues and challenges in healthcare, and develop programs to help meet these challenges.

Sherry joined Medtronic Spine in 2003, where she worked in the area of healthcare economics, reimbursement, and policy.  Her team developed programs such as Therapy Access Solutions group, Reimbursement Support Center, and other field and customer support programs for the spine service line. In 2014, her role was expanded to developing offerings in the areas of brain, pain, and spine.

Prior to her work at Medtronic, Sherry spent almost thirty years in hospital administration and physician practice development including positions in marketing, human resources, and product line management. She was a hospital CEO for ten years, and then worked five years as a multi-facility leader where she developed strategies for hospital acquisition and system development. She holds BA and MA degrees from Mississippi State University.

G. Sean Haag is the VP Strategic Alliances, Restorative Therapies Group (RTG). His team is responsible for evolving the neuroscience strategy and developing programs that strengthen Medtronic’s value proposition to our healthcare partners.  Previous to this role, Sean led a Strategic Sales team within the Cardiac and Vascular Group (CVG) as the Senior Area Director of Strategic Sales. In this capacity, he advanced CVG’s approach for evolving customer relationships from a transactional nature to a trusted partner.

Sean joined Medtronic in the Cardiac Business Unit in 2004 and worked in various finance and strategy roles until joining the strategic sales team. For the past four years he has worked in the area of strategy, alliance development, and Value Based Healthcare initiatives for RTG.

Prior to joining Medtronic, Sean worked in the Healthcare Practice of Deloitte Consulting. He has a dual Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in Finance and Accounting and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.

Lisa Ruiz

Welcome Lisa Ruiz to the Neuroscience and Spine Healthcare Solutions team as a Strategic Solutions Director (SSD). Lisa joins us from Swedish Hospital, Denver where she was most recently Vice President, Business Development and Physician Services. She has also held positions at Swedish as VP of Neurosciences and Telemedicine and Director of Patient Care for Spine and Neuroscience. In her positions, Lisa led a number of initiatives in spine, brain, and pain. She also led the effort for Swedish to implement their stroke telemedicine program and implemented the first six stroke telemedicine sites in the HCA Rocky Mountain Region, which now includes over 50 sites. She guided the stroke team to Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification by the Joint Commission, developed a multidisciplinary Deep Brain Stimulation Program, and implemented systems in the spine program that resulted in significant patient and employee satisfaction as well as growth.

Lisa has over twenty-five years of clinical and administrative experience, and has a nursing background and degree from the University of Texas. Over the last 3 years, Lisa has served as an advisor on our Healthcare Value Advisory Board. As mentioned in Sean’s announcement, Lisa will be aligned to the Northwest, Southwest, North Central, and Great Lakes sales regions. Lisa will continue to reside in Denver.

Rodney Lanctot RTG

Rodney Lanctot oversees strategic program development for the Strategic Customer Engagement (SCE) team within the Restorative Therapies Group (RTG) focused on brain, pain, and spine therapies. Rodney and team are responsible for identifying, developing, and commercializing programs and services that increase patient access, improve financial performance, and/or reduce costs for Neuroscience service lines.

Prior to this role, Rodney was instrumental in forming the Healthcare Alliances program within the Spine business unit which focused on creating distinct partnerships that delivered meaningful clinical and economic value to healthcare administrators.

Rodney joined the Spine division of Medtronic directly from his MBA program at University of Memphis in 2001 and now has 17+ years of experience leading global strategy, marketing, and business development initiatives affecting Spine, Orthopedic, and Cranial Oral Maxillofacial service lines.  While in Spine, Rodney helped launch numerous technologies, led the acquisition of Osteotech, formed strategic partnerships, and led the strategic planning process for 3 years.

Jennifer Sarafin, RN, MSN, as a Director in our Strategic Customer Engagement group of RTG, works with healthcare professionals from hospitals and healthcare systems to deliver solutions to enhance clinical, operational, and financial performance. Jennifer joined Medtronic in 2014 following a 20-year career with the Carolinas Healthcare System where she held various operational and leadership positions.

Just prior to joining Medtronic, Jennifer was the Vice President of System Care Coordination and Clinical Program Development for Carolinas.  In this role, Jennifer established and implemented processes to promote clinical integration across the full healthcare continuum and developed infrastructure to support population health initiatives for the large integrated delivery system.  Her accomplishments included establishing standardized virtual care/telemedicine services and strategic development of clinical programs of excellence for Carolinas Trauma Network, Chest Pain Network, and Stroke Network.

Jennifer earned her undergraduate degree in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia and her master’s degree in Trauma/Critical Care Nursing from Georgetown University.
