How do I know if a shunt is right for me or my family member?
In order to determine whether a shunt is right for you or your family member, your neurosurgeon will use one or more of a variety of possible diagnostic tests. He or she will also consider any other conditions present.
Immediately after surgery, patients are taken to the post-anesthesia care unit. They stay there for close observation for an hour or so and then are taken to their own room.
