DBS Movement Disorders

  • Exploration of neural biomarkers across approved movement disorder indications
  • Clinical research on sensing-enabled DBS approaches in Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, and dystonia.
  • Use of digital and remote data tools to expand access, improve practice efficiency support reduced longitudinal patient management burden.

DBS Epilepsy

  • Thalamic neural activity to inform DBS programming workflows and therapy management.
  • Sensing-enabled DBS approaches leveraging existing device capabilities.
  • DBS therapy approaches across epilepsy subtypes, including generalized epilepsies and expanded thalamic targets, in adult and pediatric populations.
  • Use of digital and remote data tools to support clinical decision-making.

LITT (Visualase)

  • Clinical research evaluating laser interstitial thermal therapy in brain tumors.
  • Biological effects of LITT, including blood–brain barrier modulation and interaction with adjunctive therapies.
  • Evidence generation supporting regional access and reimbursement considerations.

Ear, nose, and throat (ENT)

Parathyroid Detection

  • Assessing the impact of preventing hypoparathyroidism, including potential effects on patient quality of life and healthcare costs.
  • Evaluating healthcare resource utilization, including surgical time, cost effectiveness, and overall cost of care.
  • Assessment of parathyroid gland vascularity, reimplantation, including evaluation of patient quality of life and healthcare resource utilization.

Drug Eluting Stents

  • Controlled studies, especially outside the US.
  • PROPELTM sinus implant use with nasal packing.

Nerve Monitoring

  • Otology procedures including active facial nerve monitoring.
  • Head and Neck procedures using NIM NerveTrendTM technology or NIM NerveassureTM technology.

NovapakTM

  • Studies evaluating longer-term clinical outcomes and follow-up data.

ApexCutTM

  • Generation of cost, efficiency, and clinical outcome data for these blades, including comparative evaluations against alternative technologies and existing surgical approaches.

Interventional Cardiology Technologies

Proposals should address new ideas, gaps in knowledge, and generate valuable insights into clinical outcomes, health economics, or patient-centered outcomes. All research proposals will be evaluated based on scientific merit, alignment with Medtronic’s business strategy, and potential impact on clinical practice.

Coronary

Medtronic invites physician-initiated research proposals that advance PCI using our coronary technologies; we are interested in proposals in the following areas:

  • Real-world outcomes in complex PCI or high-risk populations treated with Medtronic coronary products
  • Studies evaluating Prevail™ DCB in patients with de novo coronary artery disease
  • Application of CathWorks FFRangio™ to optimize PCI decision-making and treatment strategies in the cath lab
  • Novel uses of Medtronic coronary products to improve clinical outcomes, resource utilization, or quality of life

Renal denervation

  • Medtronic is committed to advancing the science and clinical practice of renal denervation (RDN) for hypertension and related conditions. We welcome investigator-initiated research proposals that align with the following broad areas of interest:
  • Improve understanding of which patients benefit most from RDN
  • Explore new clinical applications and broader outcomes for RDN
  • Advance innovation and optimization in RDN therapy

Neurovascular

  • Real world evidence on chronic sub-dural Hematomas, Artisse, and Flow diversion
  • Emerging Indications
