BlueSync Technology Within Implantable Cardiac Devices

Watch Video

BlueSync™ technology within certain implantable cardiac devices enables secure, wireless communication via Bluetooth®* Low Energy without compromising longevity.

BlueSync is comprised of three components:

  • Bluetooth Low Energy: Enabled to automatically and securely communicate with Bluetooth Low Energy smartphones or tablets.
  • Encryption Module: Data is encrypted in the device using NIST standard encryption.
  • High-density Integrated Circuit: Reduces current drain for increased longevity.

Reimagined connectivity

The implanted cardiac device uses BlueSync technology to communicate with the CareLink SmartSync™ device manager and MyCareLink Heart™ mobile app, reimagining the experience from implant through long-term patient management.

Security Measures1

BlueSync technology security was designed to protect the device, patient data, and connectivity. In addition to extensive internal product security testing, we also engaged specialized security testing firms to confirm the protection and privacy of our devices.

Device Protection
  • BlueSync devices do not accept programming from unauthorized sources.
  • BlueSync devices are not connected to internet. Devices do not have an IP address, unlike other connected consumer products.
Data privacy
  • Data are encrypted in BlueSync technology using NIST government standard for security (used in critical applications like banking) before being transmitted to the CareLink network.
