At Medtronic, we recognize we cannot fulfill our Mission alone. In order to “alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life,” we must work closely with the healthcare professionals who deliver our therapies to the patients who benefit from them. We are honored that as part of our role, we are able to support independent medical conferences, charitable events, medical education, and public education programs.
These donations are separate from those funded by Medtronic Foundation, which makes contributions to nonprofit organizations worldwide focused on health access. For more information on Medtronic Foundation and its grants, go to medtronic-com/us-en/about/foundation.html.
We believe that everyone involved with the delivery of healthcare has an obligation to maintain relationships in an ethical and forthright manner. In considering donation requests, we follow Medtronic’s Global Business Conduct Standards Policy and the U.S. Business Conduct Playbook, which is designed in accordance with a voluntary ethical code called the AdvaMed Code of Ethics.
As a leader in the medical device industry, we have decided to further this vital effort by making public all donations given by Medtronic to US customers or organizations affiliated with customers (this would include patient groups and medical societies). Our public reporting of donations dates back to May 2008, and our website contains links to the last five years. We believe that appropriate transparency supports innovation, and greater innovation will produce technologies that are good for everyone – patients, physicians, industry, and the healthcare system.
Prior to April 26, 2014, our Donations Registry was updated on a quarterly basis in alignment with our fiscal year calendar. To better align with the annual reporting under Section 6002 of the Affordable Care Act (the Sunshine Act), Medtronic transitioned to updating this website on an annual basis aligned with the calendar year. After this period of transition (which included data from April 26, 2014 through December 31, 2014), donation information will be posted on a calendar-year basis by March 31 of the following year.
The historical and most current Donations Registries are posted below:
