Medtronic Australasia welcomed 50 high school students from Marsden High School to our Sydney office for an immersive experience designed to showcase the many career pathways available in healthcare technology.
The visit provided students with the opportunity to hear firsthand from Medtronic employees and graduates across a range of functions, including Communications, Marketing, Creative, Talent Acquisition and Medical Affairs. Team members shared insights into their career journeys, the work they do every day, and how their roles contribute to improving the lives of patients through innovative healthcare solutions.
Students also participated in interactive discussions and learned more about Medtronic's Mission, our diverse portfolio of therapies and technologies, and the important role collaboration plays in delivering healthcare innovation.
A highlight of the visit was the opportunity to experience Medtronic technologies firsthand. Students explored surgical robotics and cranial and spinal technologies, gaining a deeper understanding of how advanced medical devices help clinicians deliver life-changing care. The group also learned about cardiac rhythm technologies, including how pacemakers work and the impact they have on improving outcomes for patients living with heart conditions.
To put their new knowledge to the test, students participated in an interactive Medtronic-themed Kahoot! quiz covering company history, healthcare innovation, therapies and careers. The friendly competition created plenty of energy and excitement as students raced up the leaderboard, with the winning participants taking home brand new Polaroid camera.
The visit was part of Medtronic's ongoing commitment to supporting early talent development and inspiring the next generation of healthcare innovators. By connecting students with professionals from across the business, we hope to broaden awareness of the many ways young people can build meaningful careers that help improve lives.
