Always follow the instructions specified by your physician or the nursing staff. Always follow the discharge instructions provided by your physician after your procedure.

STEP 01

Before therapy

After administering a local anaesthesia, your physician will place a reflux catheter into your oesophagus. The catheter probe is connected to a small recording device called a pH recorder. Your physician will then instruct you on how to use the recording device.

Always follow the instructions specified by your physician or the nursing staff. Always follow the discharge instructions provided by your physician after your procedure.

STEP 02

During therapy

Once the reflux catheter has been placed, you can leave your physician’s office and go about your normal activities. You can also eat normally during this time. The procedure takes 24 hours to complete.

STEP 03

After the procedure

Once the test has been completed, please follow your physician’s office instructions on where to get the reflux catheter removed and return the recorder. 

Your physician will transfer the test data and upload to a computer. The information will be analysed by your physician to diagnose your condition.

The procedure

 

A catheter probe will be inserted into your oesophagus and is connected to a small recording device called a pH recorder. Throughout the test period, the reflux catheter will measure the pH in your oesophagus and transmit this information to the reflux recorder, worn on your belt or waistband.
