Nonabsorbable sutures

Surgipro™ monofilament suture

Surgipro™ sutures are inert, nonabsorbable, sterile sutures composed of an isotactic, crystalline stereoisomer of polypropylene with polyethylene.

Features

Surgipro™ polypropylene sutures and Surgipro™ polypropylene sutures with PTFE pledgets elicit a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissues, which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture and pledget by fibrous connective tissue. Surgipro™ polypropylene sutures and Surgipro™ polypropylene sutures with PTFE pledgets are not absorbed, nor is any significant change in strength retention known to occur in vivo.

Lifetime of these devices can be claimed to be 6-12 months with low dehiscence rate of less than 1% and can support extended healing.

The Surgipro™ sutures with PTFE have:

 • Improved tensile strength†, 1-5
 • Resistant to breaking†, 1-5
 • Resistant to fraying†, 1-5
 • Improved handling characteristics†, 1-5
 • Less tissue drag compared to the competition†,6
