Living With DBS Therapy

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Once the Reclaim® Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Therapy for OCD implant procedure is over, you and your healthcare team will collaborate to find the right balance of stimulation to control your symptoms.

After Surgery

Following the implantation of the Reclaim™ DBS system, your healthcare team will program the system to your specific needs.

Daily Living

The next step in your OCD treatment is adjusting to life with the Reclaim DBS system in place. Your healthcare team will be on hand to answer questions and support your treatment process

Product Care

Taking proper care of your Reclaim DBS system is important to successful treatment. Your clinician can also help teach you and your family caregiver what you need to know about the care of your system.

Getting a Replacement

Before your battery runs out, you’ll need to replace the neurostimulator of your Reclaim DBS system through a surgical procedure.

Indications: The Medtronic Reclaim™ DBS Therapy is indicated for bilateral stimulation of the anterior limb of the internal capsule, AIC, as an adjunct to medications and as an alternative to anterior capsulotomy for treatment of chronic, severe, treatment-resistant obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) inadult patients who have failed at least three selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).

Reclaim DBS Therapy for OCD is available in a very limited number of centres.  Only a specialised multidisciplinary group of physicians can determine whether this therapy is right for the patient.
