IN.PACT Admiral Drug-Coated Balloon

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)

Medtronic’s IN.PACT™ Admiral™ Drug-Coated Balloon (DCB) treats patients with PAD who suffer from blockages in the upper leg including the superficial femoral (SFA) and popliteal arteries. The balloon is coated with a combination of two substances:

  • Paclitaxel: is a medication (drug) that helps limit the growth of cells, and in the case of drug-coated balloons, specifically the growth of scar tissue.
  • Urea: a natural substance that aids in the transfer of paclitaxel from the balloon to the artery wall.
