Overview

The Nellcor™ low power pulse oximetry printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) is exceptionally small and delivers trusted Nellcor™ pulse oximetry technology. It may be used for telemetry, wearable, and portable monitoring applications, as well as with traditional pulse oximetry monitoring platforms.

The board size has been reduced by more than half from earlier Nellcor™ pulse oximetry PCBA designs and power consumption has been reduced to sub-45 milliwatts for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The small size and low power means design flexibility for manufacturing new lightweight, mobile and miniaturized medical and mHealth devices.

Nellcor™ pulse oximetry with OxiMax™ technology has SpO2 accuracy of ±2% in the standard range of 70% to 100% saturation and LoSat™ SpO2 accuracy of ±3% in the range of 60% to 80% saturation, enabling clinicians to accurately assess patients’ oxygen saturation.([FOOTNOTE=PMB10N (LP100): 10143258 - Clinical Report, OxiCable (LP100 embedded) Abbreviated Sensor Line including the validation at 70%-100% saturation range with MaxA, MAXFAST, SCA, Oxicliq A, DS100A, DYS-E.],[ANCHOR=],[LINK=])

Features

Small size. Low power. Big impact.

Low power engineering with three highly efficient power modes help improve battery life, and compact design may help manufacturers lower production costs. And that can have a big impact on helping to make pulse oximetry monitoring more attainable for hospitals worldwide.

Three power modes:

  • Normal Mode – designed to operate in an energy efficient manner, with an average power consumption of 45mW or less for most monitoring conditions
  • High Efficiency Mode – limits the maximum power consumption to less than 50mV for all monitoring conditions
  • Legacy Mode – average of 60-65mW for most monitoring conditions

PARAMETERS

Nellcor™ low power pulse oximetry PCBA provides accurate, trusted SpO2 and pulse rate readings clinicians count on. Plus, the LoSat™ expanded accuracy feature to help clinicians accurately track SpO2 in low saturation conditions.1

Additionally, offered as an optional feature to help clinicians assess signal quality and pulse strength at the SpO2 sensor site:

  • Percent modulation of IR input for pulse strength reporting

CLINICAL TOOLS

Key tools to help clinicians manage workflow and patient care are part of the technology embedded in the Nellcor™ low power pulse oximetry PCBA:

  • 8-bit plethysmograph waveform
  • Pulse amplitude “blip” bar as a visual indication of signal strength and the accuracy of SpO2 sensor application
  • Clinician-controlled Nellcor™ SatSeconds alarm management
  • Alarm categorization and notification
  • Variable pitch beep tone as an audible indication of point changes in SpO2
  • Two response modes: SpO2 changes are reported in 2-3 seconds in ‘Fast’ mode, and 5-7 seconds in ‘Normal’ mode
  • The Nellcor™ pulse oximetry monitoring system should not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis or therapy and is intended only as an adjunct in patient assessment.

  • Oxygen saturation accuracy can be affected by certain environmental, equipment, and patient physiologic conditions (as discussed in the operator’s manual for the monitor) that influence readings of SpO2. Please consult the IFU & manual for full safety information.
