High blood pressure treatment options

Treatment options for high blood pressure to discuss with
your doctor include lifestyle changes, medication, and
procedural options such as renal denervation.

It’s important to be aware of the risk factors for high blood pressure,1 which include:

  • Modifiable risk factors – such as unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, tobacco or alcohol consumption, and being overweight.
  • Non-modifiable risk factors – such as family history, age over 65 years and co-existing diseases like diabetes or kidney disease.

  • Calcium channel blockers relax blood vessels.
  • Extra water from the body, lowering blood pressure.

Renal Denervation

The renal denervation blood pressure procedure is an evidence-based, minimally invasive procedure that may be indicated for patients with uncontrolled hypertension.2 Designed to be used in conjunction with lifestyle modifications and medications, it has been shown to help reduce blood pressure.3-6 For some patients, it may also allow the number or dosage of blood pressure medications to be reduced.6-8

Find a specialist

If you think you have uncontrolled high blood pressure or just want to know more about your symptoms, you can start by speaking with your regular doctor.

If your blood pressure is not well controlled, a referral to a specialist may be recommended. These specialists are experienced in determining suitability for renal denervation and performing the procedure.
