Superior Staple Formation in Thick Tissue Applications

Consistent staple formation can be challenging, especially in thick tissue bariatric and thoracic applications, such as laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomies or wedge resections. The Endo GIA™ black reload with Tri-Staple™ technology was designed to provide superior staple formation1 and strength2 in thick tissue applications.

Endo GIA™ Black Reload Features

  • Thickest indicated tissue range for any stapler currently on the market (2.25 mm–3.00 mm)
  • Designed for extra thick, dense tissues commonly found in challenging bariatric procedures such as revisions and sleeve gastrectomies
  • Provides a smooth firing force through extra thick tissue due to stronger knife bar, higher compression force and improved firing mechanism
  • Variable staple heights (4.0 mm, 4.5 mm, 5.0 mm) and stepped cartridge face increase the compressibility of tissue and provide optimal staple formation in variable tissue thickness

Advanced technology for optimal interaction between stapler and tissue

No single stapler can address the wide range of tissue management issues surgeons face on a daily basis. That's why we have developed a portfolio of stapling solutions designed to meet specific needs and challenges. Each reload incorporates unique and proprietary features that deliver performance conventional staplers simply can’t match.

All of our stapling reloads incorporate our proprietary Tri-Staple™ technology. With its unique design elements like a stronger fixed anvil, stepped cartridge face and staggered staple heights, Tri-Staple™ technology delivers graduated compression that:

  • Reduces stress on tissue during clamping and compression([FOOTNOTE=When compared with ECHELON FLEX™* green reloads as part of a September 2, 2011 analysis comparing different stapler designs and their performance and impact on tissues under compression using two-dimensional finite element analysis (data on file).],[ANCHOR=],[LINK=])
  • Allows greater perfusion into the staple line([FOOTNOTE=Analysis of Staple Line Vascularity Using MicroCT between Covidien 60 mm AVM Tan reload and Ethicon 60 mm 2.5 mm White reload dated April 27, 2015. Covidien Engineering Report No: 2128 002 2.],[ANCHOR=],[LINK=])
  • Provides superior performance in variable tissue([FOOTNOTE=Based on internal test report #PCG-001, Tyvek pull-apart test comparing ECHELON™* and Tri-Staple™ technology (data on file at Medtronic).
