The Straightshot® M4 Microdebrider is an innovative powered handpiece for ENT surgery that helps improve intraoperative functionality and precision when incising or removing soft tissue, hard tissue, or bone. It's powered by our multispecialty Integrated Power Console (IPC® System).
Winner of a Medical Device Excellence Award, it's the first microdebrider that lets you rotate only the tip of the curved blade during ENT surgery. This allows you to perform 360-degree cutting in the frontal sinuses, a more complete removal of polyps and mucin in the maxillary sinuses, and gain greater access to target tissue in the lateral and posterior areas of the airway.
A unique precision finger wheel control rotates the blade tip, while integrated suction helps keep the surgical site clear. Additionally, the sculpted shape accommodates multiple hand positions and provides ergonomic comfort for surgeons with large or small hands.
With better, more comfortable access to sinus and airway anatomy, ENT surgeons can perform a more precise, complete removal of obstructive or diseased tissue with the Straightshot M4 Microdebrider.
Our complete line of blades and burs makes the Straightshot M4 Microdebrider the most versatile handpiece for ENT surgery. Some examples include:
Medtronic offers a complete line of electric surgical drills for the unique challenges of otology and neurotology procedures, including the Indigo™ Otologic Drill, Visao® High-Speed Otologic Drill, and Midas Rex® Legend Stylus® High-Speed Drills. These are powered by our multispecialty Integrated Power Console (IPC® System). We also offer the Midas Rex MR7 Pneumatic High-Speed Drills that may be used for ENT as well as other surgical procedures.
The Indigo Otologic Drill offers excellent surgical access and visibility. Its small, lightweight body provides the power and performance required for a wide range of otologic procedures. It features:
The Visao® High-Speed Otologic Drill allows remarkable surgical visibility and access with patented curved burs that feature an outer, non-rotating tube design to help protect critical anatomy from mechanical injury. With a lightweight, ergonomic titanium exterior, our Visao drill provides a well-balanced, comfortable handpiece with integrated water-cooling and low operating temperatures for long procedures.
Our Midas Rex® Legend Stylus High-Speed Drills are small, lightweight, and ergonomic for excellent balance and maneuverability when you’re operating in tight spaces. With a compact size and high torque, these surgical drills are suited for a wide range of ENT, neurotology, and spinal surgeries.
The Legend Stylus drill is foot-controlled, while the Legend Stylus Touch® drill has an integrated finger control and can be operated using finger control only, footpedal control, or both. Since the Legend Stylus Touch motor doesn’t require a footpedal at all, this surgical drill may be advantageous during multi-surgeon procedures and at busy trauma centers.
The Legend Stylus drills offer adjustable speeds from 200 to 75,000 rpm and an intuitive interface. They work with our patented high-speed Curved Burs for outstanding visibility and access in narrow and deep anatomic regions, as well as our color-coded, standardized Midas Rex Legend Tools and Attachments.
We offer an extensive line of application-specific burs for the Legend Stylus and Visao High-Speed Drills, including high-speed curved and straight burs in various shapes, sizes, and finishes. Some of our innovative product features include:
Nerve monitoring capability provided by our NIM-Response® or NIM-Neuro® Nerve Monitoring Systems, models 2.0 and later. Must be used with IPC System and Visao High-Speed Otologic Drill.
Our comprehensive portfolio of application-specific blades and burs gives you the versatility to perform almost any ENT surgery with precision and speed. We offer more than 90 application-specific blades and burs for the Straightshot® M4 Microdebrider.
Our latest designs include the patent-pending Quadcut® Blades that offer real relief from blade clogging, even under low suction conditions. The unique blade design also provides better engagement of the ethmoid bone, as well as improved precision and reduced collateral tissue damage.1
