Micra leadless pacemakers for bradycardia (slow heart rate)

Meet Micra, our leadless pacemaker

Micra™ is the world's smallest pacemaker.1 Unlike most pacemakers that are placed in a patient's chest with leads running to the heart, Micra is a leadless pacemaker because it's implanted directly into the heart.

Micra VR2 and AV2 transcatheter pacing system devices
  • Smallest pacemaker — Micra is 93% smaller than conventional pacemakers, about the size of a large vitamin capsule.2
  • Less invasive — The procedure requires no chest incision and, unlike conventional pacemakers, does not create a scar or bump under the skin.
  • Fewer restrictions — For most patients, the Micra design translates to fewer medical complications and fewer post-implant activity restrictions.

Mekaela

After years of experiencing heart issues, including a transient ischemic attack (TIA) and complete heart block, Mekaela and her family found answers and peace of mind with the Reveal LINQ™ ICM and the Micra™ AV pacemaker.

Janet

For years, Janet dealt with fainting spells from bradycardia but had no idea the problem was with her heart. Once doctors understood her condition, they quickly recommended a leadless pacemaker.

Tim

Tim lived with a traditional pacemaker for 18 years, but due to pre-existing health conditions, his device was causing him pain. His doctor told him about another option, a leadless pacemaker, which allowed him to focus on his life and his family instead of his pain and his condition.

Ross

After a series of fainting episodes halted Ross' running routine, he knew it was time to talk to his doctor. Together, they decided a leadless pacemaker was the best way to keep him on the trails.

How to talk with your doctor

Here are some things you might discuss when talking to your doctor.

  • Ask your doctor if a Micra leadless pacemaker is an option for you.
While nearly half of all pacemaker patients may be eligible for a leadless pacemaker, it’s intended for specific pacing needs.3
  • Talk with your doctor about the potential benefits and risks of a leadless pacemaker.
There are many potential benefits to a leadless pacemaker, including no visible bump or scarring on your chest and a lower risk of complications.4 However, like all pacemakers, there are some risks associated. Your doctor can discuss how you can continue to enjoy your everyday activities and hobbies.
  • Discuss next steps.
If you and your doctor decide Micra is right for you, ask about next steps.
