THERAPY AND PROCEDURE Harmony Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve

A LESS-INVASIVE APPROACH TO RESTORE pulmonary VALVE FUNCTION

Transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement therapy is an alternative to surgery for children and adults with congenital heart disease who have severe pulmonary regurgitation in native or surgically-repaired right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT).

Transcatheter pulmonary valves can improve valve function without open-heart surgery. They're also intended to lengthen the amount of time until a patient needs their next open-heart surgery, with the goal of delaying the surgery as long as possible.

TRANSCATHETER PULMONARY VALVE REPLACEMENT WITH THE HARMONY VALVE

PROCEDURE STEPS

  1. The patient will be put under anesthesia.
  2. The catheter is inserted into the patient's vein through a small access site.
  3. The catheter holding the Harmony™ valve is placed in the vein and guided into the patient's heart.
  4. Once the Harmony valve is in place, the valve is uncovered.
  5. The Harmony valve expands into place, and blood with flow between the patient's right ventricle and lungs.
  6. The catheter is removed.
  7. Fluoroscopy confirms that the Harmony valve is functioning properly.
  8. The access site is closed.
